children ... smart and need guidance ....
If, in a school setting, a child is not encouraged to run around aimlessly or playfully, why is it in a church setting, in the house of God, the same child can take advantage and just runs and plays as he fancies? If, in a school setting, a child is required to sit attentively and listen to the teacher presenting the lesson, why is it in a church setting, in the house of God, the same child can ignore his Sunday School teacher who is trying to lead the children in a time of praise and worship or tell a Bible story, and start walking around disobey all instructions given?
The teacher side of me can't stand such unruly children in the Sunday School. I corrected them, again and again. Of coz those children, though only six, can glare at me and mumble something under their breath. Let them be. It is for their own good. This same behaviour, if not corrected, will stay with them when they move on to Children's Church and even Teens Ministry.
Teachers too soft? Parents too blind or lazy? Children too disrespectful or mischievious?
I wonder. I really wonder.

Maybe in a church setting, everybody is supposed to be 'nice' so that we don't end up frightening the parents away. Don't know, just a thought. : )
If the child is running aimlessly and playful, maybe he or she is jus not interested in what the teacher is saying or doing, then maybe the parents should jus take them out.
Hi Lynn,
Sigh sigh .... it is more like the parents would LOVE to deposit their kids in the sunday school rooms so that they won't be bothered by them.
The teachers are only volunteering their service. I can guess that if they even feedback to the respective parents about their children's behaviour, do you think those parents can take it? Some can. Some can't, sad to say.
And like Sabrina said, the children also know Sunday School teachers are suppose to be kind, patient, loving and gentle ... so they take advantage, test limits, etc. Will the teachers be daring enough to handle obvious disciplinary issues? I doubt not.
The program is interesting and well-prepared in this case. It is those kids themselves.
Wait till I get to know those kids more, ha ... they will sure get more than an earful from me. At the very worst, their parents come and confront me lor. Me no loss here, coz I'm just a parent too, not a teacher, hahaha ... naughty me hor?
Just Jess
